What is the difference between joint and conditional probability?

Joint Probability is when both events A AND B happen.

  • The probability of flipping a card that is red and a king is 1/26.

Conditional probability is when an event depends on another event (event A happening given that event B happened).

  • Given that a red card is drawn, the probability of drawing a king is 1/13.
